Snow Routes
MOLALLA RIVER SCHOOL DISTRICT
WINTER 2009-2010
This bulletin will give you information on school closures or delayed times in the event of inclement weather conditions.
If weather makes travel hazardous, the Molalla River School District will close all district schools. However, in the event of localized weather conditions, the school closures will be announced on an individual basis.
All closure information, whether district-wide or for an individual school, will be announced on the SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENT NETWORK.
If a “late opening” is announced, please continue to listen for an updated report. If morning weather conditions worsen, the decision may be changed to close a school, or schools.
The following media stations are part of the SCHOOL ANOUNCEMENT NETWORK:
- AM Radio: KEX 1190, KKPZ 1330, KXL 750, KFXX 1080, KMJK 1290
- FM Radio: KINK 101.9, KKRZ 100.3, KUPL 98.7, KKSN 97.1, KWJJ 99.5
- TV: KGW 8, KOIN 6, KATU 2
NOTE: If your road is not listed, it most likely will NOT be on snow route. Please keep in mind; however, that variable weather conditions could cause unscheduled, emergency re-routing.
IF BUSES ARE ON SNOW ROUTES IN THE MORNING, THE AFTERNOON RUNS WILL ALSO BE ON SNOW ROUTES. IF YOUR STUDENT GETS A RIDE INTO SCHOOL FROM A CLOSED AREA, THAT STUDENT WILL ALSO NEED TO FIND A RIDE HOME.
Kindergarten - No AM Kindergarten on any two-hour late start. On snow route days, there will be no AM or PM Kindergarten.
Outreach program - AM outreach is at 9:30 a.m. on two-hour late start days. On snow route days, Outreach will also be on snow routes.
Preschool – No AM preschool on any two-hour late start. On snow route days, there will be no preschool.
Special Needs Transportation – Student transportation will run the same schedule as Molalla River School District. They will also be on snow routes. (Example: if your student goes to Gladstone. Gladstone is running on time, but Molalla is running two hours late, then your student will be transported two hours late). Roads listed below are roads on snow routes for big buses, if you live on one of these roads you will need to call in to set up a snow route time for your student.
Friday Late Start Days – If school is called two hours late start, the one hour late start Friday will be included in the two-hour late start, meaning times will be one hour later than the usual Friday time.
AFTERNOON EARLY CLOSURE: Should schools close early, we may be forced to run snow routes even though this has not been announced. If your student does not feel that he or she can get home safely, we will return them to their building.
In case of such an emergency, we would suggest that students who live on a snow route prearrange a friend or relative’s house (that is not on a snow route) as an alternate destination, this includes providing a written note.
The attached alternate route sheets will help your family to plan for inclement weather or emergency closure situations.
